I believe we have accepted too many inferior products

Like it cant be impossible to design and produce a coffee pot that dont spill all over and in 1988 the detroit diesel series 60 could get better than 9 miles per gallon now the average semi is mid 5 and they say they are cleaner ok how can it burn twice the fuel and be cleaner?????

And inferior ideas.
In earlier vehicles, we tuned the crap out of everything. Now everyone expects the computer to do it.
I have removed the smog equipment (except the cat) on my vehicle and tuned the crap out of it. It passes smog with lower emissions after the changes I made.
My hot rod, with a small block 350, gets better gas mileage, and runs cleaner, with all the racing equipment on it. It's all about efficiency!!
My smog guy would just shake his head when he saw the difference.

EGR...🤦‍♂️ Stupid idea!
I could rant about this for a long while.😁

A lot of fuel is wasted cleaning the emissions, it does seem counter intuitive to waste fuel to get clean exhaust emissions rather that chase efficiency, but efficient engines are slow to accelerate, and the industry seems to be obsessed with it.

Is that 0 miles to 5 miles under testing conditions or on the road with traffic?
Whyme · 46-50, M
@milkymum1 in practical use from my personal experience not government numbers
milkymum1 · 31-35, F
@Whyme So has traffic increased since 1988?
Whyme · 46-50, M
@milkymum1 i doubt it had doubled bottom line if fuel consumption is worse on heavy vehicles a lot of it can probably be placed on the need for them to be cleaner burning now my thought is how can it be cleaner if its using twice the fuel
