Is the school year over?

They just announced today our kids will be off until at least May due to Covid-19. Schools have been closed 3 weeks already, oof!

Aren't they attending virtually? That may not be preferred, but it is far safer!

@samueltyler2 in the spring, it was home-schooling with online classes and such from the teachers. They are in school now, however. Not an easy decision but we weighed the risks against mental / social wellness

@Salix75 I don't argue. There is a way to do "it" properly. But, it would take dedication and funds. Without doing it correctly, it will eventually have to be returned to virtual.

@samueltyler2 yes, probably. I'm half expecting the school will be shut down again and we'll be back to virtual/homeschooling again. I hope not, but I won't be surprised

@Salix75 in my town, the rate of positivity testing is over 5%. That makes live schooling dangerous!
Salix75 · 46-50, F
@samueltyler2 I'm not sure the rate here... I probably should 🤔

@Salix75 become a concerned citizen, get involved, don't allow the situaTion to be politicized, follow the science!

@samueltyler2 I am very much a science follower, for sure! Used to work with one of the Health agencies involved in covid stuff here. Actually used to work (indirectly) with the nation's head medical person

@Salix75 are you saying you worked for CDC? Were you in the EIS?
Salix75 · 46-50, F
@samueltyler2 no... im in Canada 🇨🇦
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Salix75 so you worked in public health in Canada, good for you. Canada is doing so much better than the US on covid!
Salix75 · 46-50, F
@samueltyler2 but we are slipping
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Salix75 you have a long way to go to hit our numbers, either raw or per capita!
Salix75 · 46-50, F
@samueltyler2 yes, true. What's happening in the US is frightening and very sad.

@Salix75 if things go badly on Tuesday, I may try to move in with my niece in Toronto!
