Do you ever worry about the effect that something you write on here, could have on somebody?

I do!
SW-User
I try to be sensitive, but not to the point of coddling or not being my "authentic self".

@SW-User I'm a natural worrier.

You should always consider that what you say or text will have an impact on others, either positive or negative. I will always support free speech, but the gap between free speech and responsible speech is very wide. Responsible speech is an indication of your character.

@trackman11 It would be a dull place without humour though.
trackman11 · 61-69, M
@alan20 absolutely, but humor that is hurtful is lazy humor. Again, I fully support free speech, just something worth thinking about. 🙂

I hope my words only cause people to smile, think, ponder, giggle, or have no effect...but never leave any intended negativity. But there's no guarantee that someone won't be unexpectedly negatively affected.

@Pinto Also, jokes are so easily misunderstood when they can't be accompanied by a smile or a twinkle in the eye.

@alan20 Very true. Emojis can only convey so much of that.
I don't wish to hurt anyone personally. I don't worry about it.
I am honest. I choose my words carefully when giving advice.

Not anymore

@PaleandPolluted I can understand. All the same I hate hurting out of my own stupidity.
