Well, let's see. Politically, it was dominated by the war on terror, so we lost a lot of small freedoms in the name of increased security. Economically, it was the big recession, so we didn't have a lot of money to spend frivolously and everyone was fearful of losing their job or being crushed by crippling debt. Culturally, it was mostly reboots, sequels, and remakes of things from previous eras, so not a whole lot of new things in the entertainment area. Technologically, it was the rise of social media and cyber-attacks, and not a lot of world-changing inventions or discoveries.
So no, it's probably not an era that's going to be remembered too fondly. An interesting one for the history books, but not a nostalgic decade. Plus, it only ended like 10 years ago, so that's not really enough time to miss it; it's still pretty fresh in people's memory.

I believe it's because those of us from those decades lived a life without technology. We had to leave our homes to socialize and meet people. Life was more that hours on a video game or smart phone. Our experiences were real world that required all of our senses.
