If you paid for the work to be done, it must be completed to a professional standard. If there is a dispute, then you get a couple of quotes/estimates to make it right, and there will be a consumer protection or small claims process to be followed. Obviously, if you can do that without a fight it would be better.

@MntoNc Now we are getting into deep water.. The way it works in my neck of the woods is you sign to say you received the car and are happy with the job. That gets submitted to the insurance co and they pay up. So if you signed for the car, your phone call to the insurance company needs to be quick.

@whowasthatmaskedman i didnt even have to sign anything. They gave me the receipt? But no signature

@MntoNc I would nor be sure of your local laws. I would still call the insurance co first thing . You will have a claim case number to refer to
The insurance company should hold the funds for a short time period for this reason. If the work isn't completed correctly then it's your duty to get it back ASAP for sorting.
They want the money so call your insurance company and make them very aware of the issues as well before they release the funds

You should contact the insurance company and tell them that body shop did sub standard work. Keep them involved because they can put more pressure on the body shop than you can. I would also ask about changing shops if they do not correct all the problems.
MntoNc · 36-40, M
@OwnerOfMany cant change shops. The insurance company isnt going to pay another 8k to fix it,and most body shops dont "correct" jobs that they didnt statt
OwnerOfMany · 90-99, M
@MntoNc No, they are not going to shuck out another 8 grand, but if one shop can not do the job to your satisfaction, assuming they attempt to correct the problems, they don't have much choice but to try to find someone who will correct the mistakes. Insurance companies are unpredictable. Last week I saw an insurance company drag their feet on a job, after a lengthy wait total a car, then pay out more in storage fees, wrecker bill, and car rental than it would have taken to fix the damn car in the first place.
The point is, don't stop pushing the shop or the insurance company until you are satisfied.

The insurance company and the body shop should still be on the hook, but mostly the body shop. Don’t pay them... whomever has the money should not pay.

If you can still do without your car then it's a must!
MntoNc · 36-40, M
@MyPokerFace legally is the insurance company obligated to give me back a rental car? I brought the rental car back right before i picked up my car
MyPokerFace · 56-60, M
@MntoNc yes.. as long as you take it back to the same place that worked on the car...
