When women say "it meant nothing" when caught cheating. Is that supposed to mean something?

What I hear is our relationship meant so little to you that you were willing to jeopardise it over nothing.

*Not a situation I'm in, just something I've observed.

Yes it just reveals to you how little value the woman places in her current relationship.. If she cheats for nothing she values her current relationship as nothing..

DunningKruger · 61-69, M
Of the various women I've know who have cheated on their husbands or boyfriends, it was always for a deep, emotional reason, like their husbands or boyfriends didn't satisfy their need for emotional attachment.

The men who have cheated, in contrast, did so because some chick was a. willing and b. available.

@SW-User I completely agree with you about breaking it off first. Good to know you’ll never cheat on me lmao
SW-User
@Jenny1234 I absolutely loathe cheating. Never done it never will, especially not to you my dear😉
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
@DunningKruger I'd agree.
Keepitsimple · 51-55, F
Of course it means something, it means the husband neglected her or vice versa. Who wants to live like their dead for 50 years?
Keepitsimple · 51-55, F
@SW-User people have those talks. A lot happens before a person makes a decision to go off and sleep with somebody else.
SW-User
@Keepitsimple Yes, there's a final step they don't take though, they don't leave.

Well said. 👍

My former BFF used to cheat all the time on her husband.

She would go to sex clubs and have sex with strangers and She would even have sex with guys in their cars on her lunch break from work. She was addicted to it

For her it wasn’t all about sex though. If any one of those guys had wanted something more, she would fall hard and fall fast for them. She was so desperate for affection and attention. She eventually left her husband for one of them. It didn’t last though

In addition to being addicted, she was extremely emotionally needy. She had to have male attention all of them time

Does that help answer your question?
SW-User
@Jenny1234 Yep. Pretty much tells me she's damaged or is simply not built for monogamous relationships.
Adogslife · 61-69, M
I’ve not experienced a woman cheater. Most women try quite hard emotionally in their relationships to be supportive of their men. If “she” did cheat, my first assumption would be that he wasn’t meeting her emotional or physical needs.

“Just because” sex seems to be more of a male thing imho, much more so.
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
@Adogslife I'd agree.
SW-User
@Adogslife 👍
SW-User
@Adogslife I'd have to disagree based on my experience and things I've heard. They do tend to forgive cheating more often that much I've noticed .
pedrohedgerow · 61-69, M
When men say the same does it mean any more,or less?

Iv not heard it said myself not met any females who have cheated recently.
But ye same rules apply. Cheating is cheating.
SW-User
@Carlisle Yea! I'm just trying to figure out how saying something like it meant nothing, suppose to make it better.
Carlisle · F
@SW-User it’s not. It’s a pathetic excuse.
Whoever is involved needs to assess the damage and make a decision. I personally would be thinking about some serious couples therapy or divorce.
smiler2012 · 56-60
{@jenny1234husband] if somebody is messing around like this whether it meant anything or not how can you trust them again
SW-User
@smiler2012 There is no trust after that, I agree.
Every time a man has cheated on me he’s told me I’m wrong. So maybe men think women are stupid and women think little of their extracurricular activities???
SW-User
@fernie2 If I'm sexist I'm proudly so. If i don't pay any attention to you my dear tell me or have the decency to break it off if your cries fall on deaf ears.
@SW-User you've truly earned this
SW-User
@fernie2 Much appreciated.
Tobasco · 31-35, F
This behaviour isn't exclusive to women only
Tobasco · 31-35, F
@SW-User I just answered when I said excuses from cheaters are bullshit.
@SW-User It's YOU who should be ignored sir. Condescending,rude, .... This is a public forum...your post or not...dictating what can be said, getting so annoyed when someone disagrees with you means you're weak
SW-User
@fernie2 Oh how I wish to be ignored by you right now. I wouldn't mind. Save the insults, coming from you, they mean nothing.
amethyst1 · 36-40, F
I would think it means that the person wasnt important to them and there wasnt a strong bond.
amethyst1 · 36-40, F
@SW-User Communication is key in a relationship, especially if you are invested in it. Obviously cheating is not the answer and 'it meant nothing' likely wont make the other person feel any better. I was just answering your question. Although I know I didn't give specific reasons for someone cheating other than some short term benefit or distraction for that person
@SW-User Exactly! Instead of trying to fix the problem, communicate, or end it in an honest, mature way...cheaters are cowards
SW-User
@fernie2 Wish I could upvote this 100 times

Yes. It means that you were only deficient in the areas that the other guy (or girl) had, but overall you are still a better catch. She will have to keep looking.😷
SW-User
In that case, I'd let her go find her perfect catch
SW-User
Isn't that what men say?
SW-User
@SW-User My friend, with all due respect this question is about women not men. There are plenty questions on here about men and their wrong doings. Im looking to understand the thought process when it's a woman at fault.
SW-User
@SW-User Okay, understood. 🙂
SW-User
@SW-User Thank you for understanding

@RogueLoner It was already awkward and then they made it worse.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@RogueLoner I heard two young women probably 18-19 talking in the casino and one of them said to the other one “There are no good guys left any more.” I kind of wanted to pipe up and say “Some of the guys think the same thing about the girls too”. But I didn’t.
