I don't know what portable lighting system you're referring to, but you could always buy colored light bulbs and insert them into your lighting fixtures

I am not sure what you mean by portable but you can buy lamps that will provide mood lighting
Exactly what I did. Bought pinkish peach- tinted bulbs online, used my current fixtures only rather than the spots placed downward, I secured several behind and below a couch, one behind a recliner also on the floor. Thus, a somewhat, theatrical uplighting effect. A warm glow that created a somewhat romantic effect yet remained functional.

For table lamps, I used pale, pastel fabric over the existing lampshade using the same peach lightbulbs and a few candles. My living room became a warm, inviting place for my own enjoyment and entertainment. I covered one entire wall with various paintings, prints, in an interesting style of placement. If you aren't comfortable with your own skill of wall covering art placement there are actually samples on "How to" on YouTube put together by professional interior designers.

BTW; Why pinkish=peach tinted bulbs? They absolutely wash away the ravages of dry, again skin, they give your complexion a warm youthful glow, they also enhance the coloring of whatever clothing you are wearing. Many nightclub lounges and bars use these bulbs to make customers look decades younger and motivate them to return time and again.
