It's the nature of our existence now. When we lived in communities of no larger than maybe 150, people were in your life until one of you died, mostly. Now there are roughly 7.5 billion of us — so many people that, ironically, it makes it difficult to develop a permanent connection with anyone, let alone everyone.

I know some people who I’m elated to say I know that I will never have to ever see their mean, truly ugly faces ever again. Maybe they’re all burning in hell …or still living in New Jersey right now (if you believe in those places)
