I had a cool supervisor one time tell me “I’m ready to blow this popsicle stand” 😎meaning he was ready to leave!

I thought he was soo cool for saying that !! So I adopted that metaphor but every time I say “I’m ready to blow this popsicle stand”! .. people think I’m being sexually suggestive!! 😡😡🙄
"I'm off like a prom dress!"
In New England I heard "Let's screw this clam boil!"

@JonLosAngeles66 variation with "let's blow this clambake"
@Corporalcolleague yup. lol. "Dine and Dash" was also called "Chew and Screw"
Corporalcolleague · 61-69, M
@JonLosAngeles66 have done both...though "dine and dash" was usually not paying the bill...for us anyway ;) Chew and screw was eat and go...like at someone's house..no post-dinner small talk
Yeah, that's because you say it like, "I'm ready to blow this popsicle..........stand". The pause makes it seem like the last word is an instruction and the rest is an intention 👀

It's an old folk term, from the Ye Olde nineteen hundred & eighties. 👴

I am guilty not you. I know the saying from my parents, and I was only being a smarty pants with my comment.

Let me apologize to you for my mischievous mind, for I know the saying and what it really meant.
