It happens, but as time goes by you start to prefer your own company anyway. And requests to hangout become a nuisance.

Life ebbs and flows. It’s natural. I lost my spouse after 44+ years. We did everything as a couple. Now that she’s gone I’m making adjustments and establishing new connections. It’s just the way life is. You’ll find the path that works best soon enough.

As I got older, the circle became smaller, you see people's true colors as you age. It can feel lonely at times, but I would rather that than be surrounded by two faced back stabbers or people who use you.

I don't really have any "friends". I gave them up, or I guess they gave up on me when I quit drinking 11 years ago. Otherwise, I spend most of my time working or with family.

I know what you mean, Space Creature. I only have a few friends that i hang out with and am close to. You're not alone in that
JPWhoo · 36-40, M
Yes, I have fewer friends and especially fewer close friends than most people do. A few months ago I officially found out that I’m on the autism spectrum. One of the symptoms of autism is that I tend to be pretty bad at sending and receiving social cues, so it’s really hard for me to connect with others. If you think your social life hasn’t ever really developed normally, you might consider whether or not you might be on the spectrum too.

I think a huge amount of people are in the same exact boat

Yeep. It's just me and my Jean Claude Van Damme movie collection.

Same boat and that's okay.

You're definitely not alone

Old friends are like precious jewels that you must treasure. Like all treasures, they will be few and rare. But don't forget to reach out to people you don't know. THEY might become friends.

I don't hang out with anyone in real life. That's on me because I'm the one that pulled away. Fortunately I prefer it this way.

Sign of the times. Check out the research on loneliness in the USA, once only an issue with older people it now impacts all ages.

Most of my friends have moved on at this point. I have friends online but not many in person.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
I hang out with someone 1-3 times a year and it's been like that for a very long time.
UndeadSona · F
If I don't hang out with my friends it's because I'm lazy or working no other reason
