Years ago I had a friend that lived significantly far away. We didn’t want to do long distance. So essentially what we did was, if we were in each other’s cities for any amount of time we would literally act like we were dating. We didn’t see anyone else during those times. We even lived in the same city for a bit and just “dated”. Then she moved again. As much as we liked each other we both loved what we did for a living and knew if either of us gave it up for the other we would resent each other. After she moved she met someone, they married and now have kids. I’m happy for her and I have fond memories.

It only works if you have two people who truly understand what FWB means, and that at some point, when the benefits stop, the friendship may continue, and that person is part of a future that may include new relationships.

I used to have a FWB. The great thing about a FWB is that it fills a need but it is easy to end if you find someone special.

I don't have friends with benefits although I probably could if I wanted with my ex, as we have done that a couple of times. But like you I want something more meaningful but trying to find that is almost impossible as Dating Apps are getting me nowhere.

They always end up falling for me, so I steer clear of that road.
