I’m considering possibly getting more friendly with a co-worker
I was chatting with my assistant Bryanna for a bit and she was telling me how a public pool near her home her and her girlfriend liked to hang out at got shut down and now they have no place to hang out and cool off for when it gets real hot. I feel bad for her and her gf, as well as their doggo, lol. So I'm considering inviting them to my sister's place, where there’s a pool with plenty of amenities for them to relax and unwind at.
I know my sister won’t mind. She’s met Bryanna a few times, so I’m sure she’ll be happy to have her over. Bryanna happens to be a fan of my sister too (sis is locally famous) so I’m sure she’ll be ecstatic to be invited. However, my dilemma is sending mixed signals; practically doing away with a line I had previously laid down firmly between us.
You see, when she first started working earlier this year, she would text me after hours just to chat. I’m not big on becoming friendly with my co-workers and prefer to keep our relationship strictly professional. I conveyed this to her and she’s only ever contacted me for business since. And now here I am considering inviting her to my sister’s?! Lolwut
But, things have changed since then. Her and I get along very well in our office and really, I’ve never had a co-worker I’m working with all the time before. She’s the first assistant I’ve ever had and she’s been the best co-worker I’ve ever had! We practically are friends who just don’t talk outside of work. I was uncomfortable with her contacting me for anything not work related before, but again, that has changed.
I hate the idea of her and her poor gf and dog being stuck at home in the heat! But if I invite them and they agree to come, I’ll be completely tearing down that boundary I had previously set before. Guess I have to decide if that’ll be a good or bad thing. At least I have time to think. I’ll reach my decision tomorrow and we’ll just see…
