How do you feel when you see an SW friend online, and they don't bother to stop and say "Hello?"

Especially in a case where you had sent a DM to them a few days ago that they have not acknowledged? Am I missing an unspoken signal, or is it just my paranoia talking?

🙄
Flossie · 36-40, F
Sometimes you want to log in and participate and not spend all your time chatting.
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
@Flossie So, it would not bother you saw a friend online almost daily, but they have not answered a DM you sent to them four or five days ago and did not even stop by and say "Hello. I am busy and can't chat, but I hope you are well" or some similar scenario?
Flossie · 36-40, F
@ProfessorPlum77 @ProfessorPlum77 they may of forgotten to reply. Message them again? I dont have any friends on here and rarely log in.
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
@Flossie If I message them again, I sometimes wonder if I am coming across as needy.
🤷‍♂️
I prefer to just interact through feed and post and that’s how I enjoy spending my time on the site. I rarely do pm(s) and if I do I don’t regularly reply to them because I enjoy more interactions more throughout the feed. I find them to be more fun, more interactive as other’s can jump in, and a better way of building a more genuine and solid connection. I’ve had others do the same with me as far as not replying it’s not something I focus on when on here.

Well, a lot of posters, especially female posters, have stopped checking/reading their DMs because of all the stupid ones they get from males, or even filter them out and only receive the ones from other females.

So I would say unanswered DMs alone aren't a great sign of anything ... and some forget to check or reply to them.

I'd say public interaction would give a better answer.
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
@Viper I appreciate it. Thank you!
It's your paranoia. A lot of people don't respond to me. I just unfollow them. It's their loss.
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
@WonderGirl1 I have about sixty people blocked. I have unblocked only a few.
@ProfessorPlum77 I just checked. I have no one blocked.
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
@WonderGirl1 Very admirable. I am the block-king king.
(That is either almost a pun, or somewhat redundant.)

Some don’t like writing, or have nothing to say. Maybe they don’t have the energy for a two way conversation. It could be anything. Maybe they can’t be bothered.
ExtremeNext · 31-35
I hardly talk to anybody and never answer messages I am just not a chatty person, if people are lonely buy a cat or dog
Sometimes we just read too much into things like this. Since I only log in a few times a month these days I often have a backlog of messages to catch up with. Folks who know me, know I catch up when I can. The majority of my contacts are people I've known for many years.
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
@Grateful4you OK. Thank you.
I have no clue when SW friends are online, so I wouldn't know unless I saw them.

Maybe they had something of moment they were dealing with. Maybe they only had five minutes until the Uber arrived. Maybe the bathtub was almost full.

There are a bajillion reasons possible.
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
@Mamapolo2016 I think we agree this IS a nice place. However, you are super nice. I was just joking!
😆
@ProfessorPlum77 I know you were!

Paranoia talking.

Most of my sw "friends" I just talk to on the open forum. Unless there is something private to discuss.

I mean unless someone has blocked you, they are probably fine with interacting.

Plas as fast as things move on here at times, it can be difficult to keep up
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
@CestManan I agree that it can be hard to keep up in here, at times.
Penny · 46-50, F
if you keep on sending texts though and they ignore them then i might think something was up but if you just send one then leave it i wouldnt expect much
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
@Penny Really? I thought they could still see it. On more than one occasion, their reply was an answer to a direct question I asked in an archived DM.
(I guess I should use a different opening line besides my standard "What are you wearing?" in any future DMs.)

🤔
Penny · 46-50, F
@ProfessorPlum77 lol. theyd have to go to your profile and hit the message button. that would bring your converstaion back up
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
@Penny Interesting. I use the archive key a lot. I may have to start wending them gifts for all their extra effort and diligence.
SW-User
Sometimes i don't see messages unless i look for them ...they don't always show up ..
Also,I don't expect instant responses . I know I'm not the only person people talk to .
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
@SW-User Interesting. Thank you.

I don’t have Sw friends ..and i never made any connections either.. I just assumed we are all here to fuck around
CestManan · 46-50, F
@SW-User Some people take this place really serious. Kind of awkward really.
caccoon · 36-40
It doesn't bother me at all. People have lives/feelings/they get worn down.

Personally I am constantly feeling like a dick for not getting back to the people that reach out to me, but that's just how it is.

You only have so much energy.
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
@caccoon Well, that is true. Thank you.
PS Don't be so hard on yourself.
Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
I don’t get upset when people don’t respond to my dm’s. I never take it personally and I myself am not good at keeping up with messages because I forget to check my inbox all the time

I don’t need anyone to say hi to me if they see me online. I don’t like to put expectations on my friends or anyone I know and I don’t like when people do it to me
SW-User
Yeah well it's better to not take those things personal.
If they want to continue talking, they're welcome.
If not it's ok too. Other people will be interested.
It has to flow naturally... Otherwise it doesn't make sense. It's forced.. It's annoying.
And I don't open much to people so yeah.
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
@SW-User Interesting. Thank you.
Miram · 31-35, F
I am the SW friend who doesn't bother.
Tenletters · 31-35, M
I have like 2 followers so i dont care🥸
AbbySvenz · F
.. maybe they’re busy..? 🤷‍♀️
SW-User
No big deal to me
Penny · 46-50, F
they are probably just distracted or dont feel like talking much. i wouldnt worry
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
@Jenny1234 Usually, the green light is on next to their profile name.
Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
@ProfessorPlum77 I’ve never Even noticed LOl
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
Yours is lite as I type this reply.
comfi1 · 61-69, M
It’s sad when your SW friend which you had from before this place is still here but hasn’t signed on for more than 2 years 😕
Some of us just arent social butterflies.

Or we dont expect DM's , so we dont check them 🤷‍♀️
Donotfolowme · 51-55, F
Hahahah I am so use to it that it doesn't matter anymore
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
Sometimes I just feel so drained from the pain that I prefer to stick to posts.

I also get lots of DM’s and don’t answer them lol
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
@iamonfire696 I do answer those from friends. With unsolicited PM's, it depends on the circumstances.
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@ProfessorPlum77 I don’t always answer my friends PM’s right after they send them 🤷🏼‍♀️
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
@iamonfire696 I usually do. Sometimes, if I am on my way out, I don't.
