Beef with Snow Pea Pods [I Like To Share Recipes]

Cooked Brown rice...amount is up to you. Use Boil in bag rice, or cook brown rice 45 minutes and set aside.

2 small sirloin steaks with fat trimmed, about 1/2" thick.
2 Tablespoons peanut oil
2 tablespoons butter
1 large onion cut into wedges, about 8-10 wedges
1 (8 oz) can mushroom stems and pieces, drained
1/2 of (15 oz bag) frozen snow pea pods, (not the thin ones)
3 Tablespoons garlic powder or more
1 (8 oz) jar Heinz beef gravy
1/3 cup dark soy sauce
1/4 cup dry red wine, or sherry wine.
Light soy sauce to taste

Coat the steaks heavily with garlic powder. Melt butter and oil together in a large, deep frying pan on high heat. When the butter starts to brown, add the steaks and cook about 2 minutes per side. Remove from pan to a cutting board and let them rest.

To the butter and oil, add the onions and mushrooms. Stir well, reduce heat to medium, and allow the onions and mushrooms to cook for about 5 minutes, stirring as needed to deglaze the pan. While the onions and mushrooms are cooking, place the frozen snow pea pods in the microwave on a paper towel for one minute and remove.

Slice the steaks on the diagonal. Slices should be thin...about 1/8" to 1/4" thick. Then cut to bite size, no more than 2" long.

Add the steak to the mushrooms and onions, stir, and then add the dark soy sauce, wine, and beef gravy. Add the remaining garlic powder and stir well. Make sure the sauce is heated through and the onions are cooked. Last, add the snow pea pods and stir just until heated...about 1 minute.

Serve over rice with Light low sodium soy sauce.

Serves 4 generously.
