The emoji theory

I’m sure this has come up before. But so many posts and replies I see have way too many emojis. It’s hard to take them seriously.

Combine that with numbers representing words (2 for to or too; 4 for for, etc.), and I become more worried about the poster’s sanity.

Yeah, I know this is an old man’s perspective but come on.

Unless you’re 2 legit 2 quit, get outta here with that. 🫠😐😔🤨🤨😳🤣🧐😔🙂‍↔😁😉🤣😏😏😬🙂‍↔😗😆🤯

I used to hate emojis and went out of my way to avoid them. But then unconsciously I realise that they were very useful in keeping a short message short. They serve as establishing a tone of voice (in a limited way) and enable fewer words to convey a meaning. I hope I don't overuse them these days, I am a bit fond of them. I wish there was a greater choice on the response emoji at the end of each posting.

@FreddieUK I agree, they set the tone. For example if you are being ironic, occasionally people don't realize unless you accompany it with a silly emojiii
