You ever buy from a roadside vegetable stand?

I got some ripe tomatoes today that were beautiful. Almost too beautiful to cut up, just for a salad. My wife thinks I was uncharacteristically dramatic over this.

Yes! I love to buy them that way. In fact I have a post in my drafts.

No, you were just being appreciative. 😁

We have one here and it's honor system take what you want leave the money in the box. Nothing beats farm fresh

Out town used to be filled with those when I was a kid, farmers selling their own produce. But over the decades almost all the farms have been replaced with housing developments and the closest we have to farm stands are two large orchards that sell produce in their buildings.

Yeah, there are a lot in my area, they leave the food and a list of prices and you just put the money in their jar or whatever they have to hold the money and take the veggies you selected. It's on an honestly system

We have a farmers market around the corner from me on Sundays. They have no security or inventory control. It would be easy to take a bunch of stuff without paying, especially when it's crowded.

There are quite a few fruit stands where I live; cherries, strawberries and raspberries in particular. Not so much veggies.
The people who sell them need to be encouraged!

I have, but since I live in a city I most often go to one of the local farmer's markets. I'm with you - nothing beats a fresh, locally grown tomato that ripened on the vine.

I prefer a local farmers market, I don't see as many roadside stands these days.

Yes. Eggs and strawberries mostly
live here in Amish Country Pa and they have some of the best stands in all of the country. fruits and veggies are great. the honey is the best and some even have their Quilts for sale (although very expensive) but worth what you pay
