Topless Sisters This morning I received a text from my sister. "Let's both do this weekend...

Updating after the weekend. No suspense-YES! We did it for two days. Please keep reading for details.

GETTING READY: We did the single clothing article each with mid waist distressed/destroyed shorts for me and linen draw string pants for my hubby. I was handed a beach towel in case we were tied up in traffic with cars alongside of us. We loaded up the desserts I made and the dog. Ten minutes into the trip, I realized I forgot the towel. If needed I'd just cross my arms over my chest. We arrived long before any guests without incident.
SATURDAY ATTENDEES: Two couples from my brothers-in-law's family. My sister's co-worker and husband. A cousin that recently returned to area newlywed with her husband. The son and daughter of my sister. The niece with her long-term boyfriend. My daughters, the older one with her boyfriend. (Although I expected this, I did not tell them.) Thanks, big sister!
HOW DID I DO: She planned it perfectly. There were enough people there to test my mettle, but not so many that I freaked out. There were probably only about five people that I had never met before. She must have prepped them well because there were no questions, comments or strange looks related to attire. I did get several compliments on my jewelry. Obviously, I was wearing more jewelry than clothing. I held my own always smiling and fairly relaxed.
MY CONFESSION: She had a bar set up when we arrived. Normally, I usually only have a few drinks each year at holidays and special events. I guess I put this in the "special events" category and had a few drinks to bring out my courage.
SUNDAY: The only attendees were our kids, niece and boyfriend, nephew and wife. My daughters came together without dates.
BEST PART OF IT ALL: Sunday after we ate, and my daughters were leaving, they hugged me and Sis, stared us down and said, "We have the coolest Mom....and Aunt."
HOW DID IT END: As we packed up the leftovers, Sis told me she had a fun time with this, and that I truly surprised her with my perfect poise. We hugged and then she said, "Annual event?" I left her with possibly every decade.

This was a crazy part of my life that I chose to share. Thank y'all for the support, caring, and making it through this excessively long post.

Hoping this post still has followers, here is a pre-event update. We are leaving early tomorrow morning and returning Sunday evening. No packing. Wardrobe planning is easy. Hubby and I just wear one single article.
My thoughts keep alternating between I must be crazy, and this will be good fun. Sis has sent a number of teasing texts. My attitude is just put the modesty on the shelf and conquer all inhibitions. Thanks to all my friends here that held an interest, open mind, and gave me a gentle nudge. Thanks again; I'll check back in next week.

A very interesting idea of a topless cookout. I personally don't it should be that big of a deal as you mentioned, guys to topless all the time! I definitely don't know her so only you would know if this is some elaborate plan for a joke. Other than that, with the heat wave of late, a topless cookout actually sounds pretty nice.

How about saying "no."

Then, at the gathering, when you see who exactly is there, if you feel comfortable with this you can take her aside and say, "OK, let's do it."

This way you never have to "back out" and lose face with her.
