What would someone do if they were a single parent with no family and not enough money for childcare during the summer holidays?

Depressing isn't it? I'm guessing at 14 they can be left in the house alone.

Depends on age but if need be cut off the gas hide all the Nives and lock them indoors... Just leave them snacks and an ipad and they are ok it's like you're not even gone.

At 14?
Would be weird to have childcare for a 14 year old. Yet... understandable. I was rarely home in the summer at 14 though.

@nonsensiclesnail yeah i mean when they are too young to be left alone and the parent has to go work.
