I could never say the words I love you to either of my parents

But I can at least say it to my little brother.

I never said it to my dad ever. He wasn't worthy of that. I just felt nothing even though it's a decade that he died.
@Beatbox34 RIP to a real one 🙏

@Beatbox34 My dad is still around but I don't know for how much longer. His diabetes has gotten worse since he got COVID

@SW-User I'm sorry man. It's really scary. Has his medication been changed? They usually increase the dosage when the body gets immune to the medication for a while.
I can say it to my mom 🤷 not really my dad though, sounds weird

@ChiefWalksWith40oz I get the "weird" sentiment. I guess what I'm trying to express is he didn't invest that kind of interaction in me. It's a yearning to at least feel the love rather than say it verbally.
@SW-User makes sense. Fortunately I don't need to hear it either. Feeling it is good enough for me. They say actions speak louder than words for a reason

My dad says it on the phone like it's a habit (and without feelings and not sincere) so it's hard for me to reply.

Only as I got older did I say them to my parents .. only because I had moved out of the house so hostility in the household went way down and I was only seeing my parents 3/4 out of the year..

Yeah we care about eachother in my family but it's not something we'd say. There's no need I suppose.

It was hard for me also.
