Joys of home ownership

Water bill was substantially higher for last month. I decided to investigate. Broken pipe underground. Dug it all up and cut-in new fittings and even laid some pipe.馃榿[image deleted]

Why isn't the city paying or doing the work to fix the water pipes?

@Synyster It's not on the city side of the meter. Everything on home onwer side is responsiblity of the property owner.

@Synyster If I remember correctly, it depends on where the pipe is located. City goes to a certain spot and it then becomes the home owner's problem. IF I remember correctly.

@SW-User Ours goes right to the house, anything after that is the owner's problem. Of course, it depends on the city.

@Synyster Thanks. Spent 40 bucks in all. Those Sharkbite fittings are the best! Whoever invented those is a gazillionaire.

@Synyster My old house was that way because the meter was in the basement.

@Spumoni Can't beat $40 and a little labour to repair what could be an expensive water bill. Yeah, those Sharkbite fittings are awesome.

@Spumoni Yup, that's exactly where my meter is.
