yep, been doing research for the past ten years. Most of my ancestors came to the U.S. from England, Wales and Scotland. Most came over in the 1600s.
@SheCallsMeCrushDaddy I've never looked into doing it. You research it on a website, I assume. Which one? How else? Any tips for doing it? I might want to do it at some point.

My mom told me "Scottish, English and I think a little German." That's the extent of my knowledge about my ancestory.

My moms maiden name sounds Scottish. My dad's last name (mine also) sounds English in that it's a somewhat common English word.

@DffrntDrmmr I did a lot of my research on ancestry.com. Also had dna test done.

I met some of my great grandparents. That's as far as my interest goes.
Yes, I’ve had dna testing done. And I knew my paternal grandparents, who were born in the 1800s. My father, who’s still alive, knew his grandparents and their stories.

I'm the grand-grandson of partisans. You'd expect their battle to be done and over in 2022, but here we are, still dealing with wannabe-fascists.
My father's father's people came from Bavaria in the 1880's. My mother's mother's people came from northern Germany in the 1880's-- on the same boat. My father's mother's people came from County Cork Ireland in the 1880's. The ancestry of these people are well known. Alot of historical stuff on some of them. My mother's father's line is a mish mash. I know less about them. And don't care.

Father’s came over from Germany in the late 1800’s,
