Can you identify the one single moment in your life when you realized you stopped considering yourself young and rather old?

Bushranger · 70-79, M
Every time my 69 year old body tries to do what my 18 year old mind thinks it should be able to do 😆

@Bushranger I can relate
JustEd · 41-45, M
When I realized I have hats older than some of the guys I work with.
SW-User
When I got a heel Spur and had to take walking up the stairs one step at a time while gripping the rails for dear life

Hasn’t happened yet

That hasn't really happened yet. When I pass a mirror I ask: who is that old man. It is startling to see the age of the health care providers, police, etc., but, it just seems weird.

When I was 55 and had my first body part ( a knee) replaced, and I realized that my physical warranty was running out.
FrozenWasteland · 61-69, M
Hasn't really happened yet. Body and mind are still half-assed functional, so I don't feel much different than I did 20 years ago.
Bri89 · 31-35, M
When I realized that the number of birthday candles on my cake would create a fire hazard.
WhateverWorks · 36-40
Maybe the moment I couldn’t contextually appreciate Snapchat or yeet?
SW-User
I was always the youngest person at work, then one day i wasn't. It was then.

thepreposterouspanda · 36-40, M
After my hip replacement 🤔
Andromedanian · 22-25, M
@Pinkstarburst and when was that moment?
@Andromedanian My mother had the flu and I had to take care of my little sister.
SW-User
Yep as soon as I hit 30
That's a tough one.

The bar keeps moving 🤷‍♀️

@swirlie very existential, and your remark about covid, although it may provoke controversy here from those who believe that it is no worse than a bad cold. I know MANY younger people suffering from long-covid. We have yet to uncover or understand the breadth and depth of the effects of this virus. It took 20-30 years to understand the after effects of the 1918 influenza. Those victims did age out of proportion to what their genetic code would have led to.

@swirlie so sorry for your experiences and loses. I feel so frustrated in efforts to try to enlighten people on the dangers, and simple preventive measures!
