Can you identify the one single moment in your life when you realized you stopped considering yourself young and rather old?

Every time my 69 year old body tries to do what my 18 year old mind thinks it should be able to do 馃槅

[@764286,Bushranger] I can relate

Perception of age exists only within one's mind because 'thought' does not leave it's source.

If you see yourself as young, then you are.

If you see yourself as "rather old", then you are.

We are what we say we are, not what someone else tells us we are.[/c]

[@332402,swirlie] very existential, and your remark about covid, although it may provoke controversy here from those who believe that it is no worse than a bad cold. I know MANY younger people suffering from long-covid. We have yet to uncover or understand the breadth and depth of the effects of this virus. It took 20-30 years to understand the after effects of the 1918 influenza. Those victims did age out of proportion to what their genetic code would have led to.

"I know MANY younger people suffering from long-covid".
And I know of two people who use to be in my circle of friends, who committed suicide a month apart from each other only last summer. Both were victims of long-covid but for only 12 months since their initial contraction of the disease.

Neither one could tolerate the rapid degenerative effects they were both aware that covid was imposing on their mind and their physical bodies. [/c]

[@332402,swirlie] so sorry for your experiences and loses. I feel so frustrated in efforts to try to enlighten people on the dangers, and simple preventive measures!

When I realized I have hats older than some of the guys I work with.

This past year. All of a sudden I lost range of motion in my left knee and left shoulder. Okay the shoulder was a couple of years ago. All of a sudden I just realized one day that I wasn't 20 anymore.
samueltyler270-79, M
That hasn't really happened yet. When I pass a mirror I ask: who is that old man. It is startling to see the age of the health care providers, police, etc., but, it just seems weird.

When I was 55 and had my first body part ( a knee) replaced, and I realized that my physical warranty was running out.
FrozenWasteland61-69, M
Hasn't really happened yet. Body and mind are still half-assed functional, so I don't feel much different than I did 20 years ago.

When I realized that the number of birthday candles on my cake would create a fire hazard.

I was always the youngest person at work, then one day i wasn't. It was then.
Maybe the moment I couldn鈥檛 contextually appreciate Snapchat or yeet?

Pinkstarburst51-55, F
