The best news ever today

After a lot of hard meetings, constant phone calls, piles of paperwork, family feuds, nightmares, what seemed like endless waiting, and many tears.... today we got the go ahead. I get to adopt my little sister at the end of November. I can’t believe she will be legally mine <3

I haven’t told her yet... I want to do something special to tell her tomorrow. I just haven’t figured out what yet lol

But I hope it brings her some peace & makes her feel secure. It’s been such a crazy time for both of us since I got her.

Part of the fear for me has been thinking of the possibility she could be given back to her abuser. Unlikely, but it kept me up at night. If not that, I was afraid CPS would think I wasn’t capable of taking care of her and I would have unintentionally sent her into the foster care system in trying to make her safe.

This adoption literally cannot come soon enough for me. It’s going to be a wild ride being a ‘mom’ I’m sure... with a lot of tantrums & tears & everything else you go through with a kid. I don’t really know how I’m going to raise her but we’ll figure it out as we go.

We still have to go through a criminal case to get some justice for everything my aunt put her through. But that will be so much easier when I know she’s not going anywhere.

So if you need me, I’m up here on cloud 9, and I don’t plan on coming back down to earth anytime soon :p

Oh & please pray she is happy to hear this tomorrow lol
