The most magical weekend with my girl
A perfect weekend with my little sis. So many precious moments for the journal...
Saturday ✨
Sleepy sunrise cuddles on an empty beach. Pancakes for breakfast. Way too much chocolate sauce. Meeting up with friends at the park & watching her be so relaxed and confident. A Disney movie marathon turned sing-along. Her giving me huge hugs out of the blue. The best pasta salad to date. Her falling asleep on the couch super early after insisting she was staying up late. Carrying her to bed. Then her waking up four hours later ready to party. Her cheeky little smile as she came downstairs & her surprise at seeing our other siblings sitting on the couch. Her telling us she wanted to see the moon. A subsequent ‘backyard bed’ created & stargazing until gone midnight with the gang. The joy coming from a crazy happy 8yr old in disbelief that this was real. Her little giggles every time she thought she saw a shooting star and it turned out to be something else. Seeing how much she adores her big brother. Carrying her upstairs to bed, again. Her little hand holding my wrist all night.
Sunday 🌛
A lazy morning in my bed with a box of dry cereal and a carton of cranberry juice, but no bowls or cups. A pact to stay inside all day & listen out for thunder. Reading a few chapters of “The Faraway Tree”, then listening to ‘Drops of Jupiter’ on repeat. A half hearted game of Guess Who. Girly raiding my closet & spending the rest of the day wearing my sweater as a dress. Her telling me “It feels like there’s only me and you in the whole world”. Taking silly polaroids. Her feeding me cookies whilst we watched ‘Inside Out’. Making soup from moms handwritten recipe. Sitting at the dinner table with unbrushed bed hair from the night before. Too many kisses to count. Getting only two pages into her book before she fell asleep. Praying her head is too full of happiness to have any nightmares tonight.
Hoping to be even half as happy this time next week.
