Desperate times and all that...

Sooo tired and I don’t know if I can wait for kiddos 8pm bedtime....

Is it totally terrible of me to sneakily change the clock today to show an hour later than it is? lol

She’s 8...I don’t think she’d notice. If I get her down at 7pm I can have a bath and go to sleep at 8 myself

Feel like a criminal just thinking about it hahahah

I have changed the time on my kids too in order to get them to go to bed!!!!!

I would also tell them that Santa is checking in that day to see how they are doing and they have to be in bed and asleep in order for him to be able to call!!!

@Jenny1234 lol creative. I like it!

I've done it, I wasn't struck down with some awful disease or anything like, it works!

Or you could just say bedtime is earlier today. Parents should be parents, when my parents made a decision it wasn’t my place as a child to question it.
Raffiki · 22-25, F
@Powderflask I could. But I might be too tired by then to risk sending her into meltdown over it. She needs me to be very calm & gentle atm so I don’t want to risk not dealing with it calmly if she does flip out

Well, tell her it's reading bedtime and
give her milk & a simple snack 🍎🥕🍌🥩
And she can read until she passes out!
Only reason her feet hit the floor is for a bathroom trip.
No electronics, ambient 🎶 maybe.
Then go soak your day away!

PS: You're doing great! Likely things will change slowly for the better as a comfortable routine kicks. Does she have a "safety object" toy, stuffed 🧸, blankie, to hold, or even talk to ?

If sleep issues continue consider asking Pediatrician about melatonin... staying away from any RX is best until absolutely exhausting every other choice, therapy, meditation, herbals.
Not that it’s a great plan, but be sure to move the rest of the evening events forward so the routine is the same.

Don't! We have all been there, you sure deserve some "me" time.

No harm in trying
You are a good Mommy!

@Raffiki they were putting her to bed at 4 or 5 pm? that's so sad! I always had the same bedtime routine: they come with me to walk the dog after dinner, bath, story time. The walk and the bath really helped tire them out. Before we got the dog, we would just walk around the neighbourhood
Raffiki · 22-25, F
@Jenny1234 yup, it was a regular thing. Weren’t giving her dinner on those days either. She pretty much came home from school, did homework and went to bed.

thats a great routine! At the moment I do an hour long routine with her which includes half an hour of reading. She reads aloud to me then I read a couple chapters until she’s ready to sleep. Usually we go to the beach or pool after school so that tires her out.

Changing the clock is naughty
Just put her to bed
