What is it about sleeping in a strange bed…?

(let me clarify) I’m visiting family and having an even harder time getting to sleep than usual. It’s quiet and the bed is perfectly comfortable. And yet…
Fluffybull · F
I don't like visiting people. Strange bed, my usual things not around me, all that awkwardness in the morning when you wake up first and think "do I get up? Do I wait til others are up? Am I going to get breakfast in bed???;!" 😱😱😆
Dark spiced rum. A glass before bed will bring on dream land.
@SirenCalledLuce And if I were at home where there’s alcohol, I’d be looking into that very thing. 🥺

Wow, I sleep in strange beds ALL THE FREAKIN' TIME. And on planes. Sometimes even on trains. On boats. When it's time to sleep, I'm out!

I wish I could help.
@sarabee1995 You sound like my brother—our grandfather used to say, “that boy could fall asleep on a picket fence !” 😅
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
@bijouxbroussard I'm not sure about that, but I do seem to fall asleep quicker than most and when I need to without problem. There are exceptions. There are times when I can't turn off my head. But most of the time when I lay down and close my eyes ... 😴😴😴

Sleep is elusive no matter where I am. I hope to get the RV out soon and hope that a few days in nature will ease my mind.

Its not your space ...or bed🤷‍♀️
bookerdana · M
@bijouxbroussard In my place even if I can't sleep I can play the stereo,shower read,EAT..no complaints🤣 and my back and my lumpy mattress have come to an understanding...
@bookerdana Exactly right. When I have insomnia at home, I get a drink and watch tv. One of my sisters is an alcoholic, so no booze is allowed here.
bookerdana · M
@bijouxbroussard sneak some in? J/K....Many things I thought about adulthood were "less true",Sure I can stay up all night,but work still beckons,I can eat cake and ice cream,without restriction but no joy there either,but having your own place is priceless🖤

We would sing
And dance around
Because we know
We can't be found😛

You know what I still occasionally enjoy..listening to the tv in another room in bed..everything sounds so interesting

For me it would be the stranger beside in the bed 😳.
@SW-User Not what I’m talking about here. 😅

Well fooked if I know 🤷‍♂️@bijouxbroussard

It’s a strange environment. Your room at home has all the stuff you like just the way you want it. You have a certain routine there. You have none of that at a hotel or friend’s house.

As far as sleeping while away...

You live in California, why not bring some edibles while away?
@sciguy18 You know, I did this time. I was hesitant to take one only a few hours before time to get up. Those can put me out for the entire night—which is usually great.

Reading something really boring might help. Good luck!
helenS · 36-40, F
@bijouxbroussard Mr. King was exactly the author I thought of when I posted my reply. He's a commercial writer, he writes books that are supposed to sell, the more the better. Boredom guaranteed!
Good night.
helenS · 36-40, F
@helenS Oh – still awake? 😏
@helenS I’m a hardcore insomniac. 🤨
To me it just feels wrong. I want to be on my own little curves and bumps I've made in that mattress.
@mondayschild2 Yes ! 😃
DrWatson · 70-79, M
A lot of people react that way. I have never had this problem -- but then again, I almost never fall asleep quickly, even in my own bed.
smiler2012 · 56-60
{@bijouxbrousassard] maybe being out of your comfort zone say what you want as comfortable as the bed is you cannot beat your own pit 😄
DoubleRings · 51-55, F
Show me a bed and I will sleep in it now. But when i was a kid, I hated being away from home overnight.
@DoubleRings I loved sleepovers as a kid, because they were rare, but I generally didn’t sleep then, either. 😄
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
I know the feeling. And then I hate getting back to my own bed sometimes. 😆
Ksmile14 · F
Im the same way. Unless im just sooooo tired sleeping anywhere other than my bed.
Same. Especially on vacations. I just can't get to sleep.

I have trouble sleeping too when I'm in a different bed

Friday is here. :D

I love sex in an unfamiliar bed. Always have it when in a hotel. Enjoy even more when staying at a regular friend's place.

Strangers?
gdon39 · 41-45, M
@bijouxbroussard is there any family around you?
@gdon39 Well, they’re in their beds asleep…
gdon39 · 41-45, M
@bijouxbroussard well perhaps you could sneak out and come over. Lol
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
I get this when I have to stay in a hotel room. PLUS, I always get insomnia when the seasons change..like now.
@uncalled4 I love hotels and am usually too excited to sleep, watching the tv and checking out the mini bars where a candy bar costs $12. 😅
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
@bijouxbroussard Hey, put that Snickers down right now, unless you want to take out a home equity loan.

I miss how my beds feels and I don’t sleep well at other places

@SW-User Yes, that would help—but alas, my parents keep a “dry” house. ☺️
