Not necessarily a "security" blanket. Mine was an old cowhide that someone had turned into a blanket. I grew up in Central Illinois and my room was on the north side of the house. Unfortunately the heater didn't do a good job of heating my room....

Yes, and I've still got it. My mum crocheted it with a rainbow pattern and gave it to me when I first went to boarding school.
