Maybe that wasn't the best thing to say...

A guy who I have previously talked to at the gym gave me an assist on a bench press and we talked a bit. He recently graduated university and works as a data analyst for an insurance company. Anyway, he confided he had been taking "a lot" of drugs when he went on vacation with friends about a week or so ago. He said it was still painful to swallow. I didn't know what to say and didn't want it to seem like I was judging him or lecturing him. I said something like, "thanks for spotting me and I hope you feel better." He walked away.

You're a good guy, mark.
That was a pretty normal interaction.
