It's so hard for me to splurge on myself for any reason

I just deprive myself of so many things I want, whether it's takeout food, a new outfit, a little vial of nail polish, a new book, etc.

I have such a hard time justifying it. 🥲 I grew up so poor, and I am not used to having disposable income.

In our budget, we all get equal allowances (works for us...). My spouse wanted to double HER allowance when a property of ours got paid off. I said "Sure...we can double our allowances"

She replied.... "I meant MY allowance, YOU never spend money...why would you need twice as much."

Which is true....and the reason I am going to spend half my savings (built up from my allowance) on stuff around the house this summer.....

Otherwise, inflation will just eat away at the value of my savings....

Maybe you can put away the money for something expensive you really want? Of course make sure you have a buffer for unexpected expenses.
