Now I'm a young poor adult and I have government issued insurance. When I was 19 I had a really bad tooth infection that could of become deadly if I didn't get it treated. A few guys online told me that I was wrong and selfish for getting it treated because each time a homeless or poor person goes to the hospital they're basically robbing the middle class and being a burden to the economy. I think the guys were especially angry that doctors/ nurses still get paid to treat people like me when they say that poor people need to help themselves and stop mooching off the rich and middle class.

So... I couldn't help but feel bad for going to the hospital, even when I could barely walk because I thought that uh I was basically a burden to and robbing Americans.

I posted something similar when I said a friend was shaming their friend for going to the hospital because he shouldn't be allowed to go to the hospital if he can't afford it. And almost everybody was disgusted.

But then again, should a homeless person feel bad about going to the emergency room?

I had a happy childhood, there were 5 of us kids, money was tight but I didn't want much spent on me. When I was in high school it was much harder because I didn't want friends to come to my house. Dad wouldn't let me get a job until I graduated
