What's the point of "washing" your child's mouth out with soap?

I've read some stuff on here about it. If you do this, why? What are you hoping to achieve?

@SW-User You nailed it. Most people won't come right out and say it, but it's abuse. It's even worse when they do stuff like this to add some pleasure to it.
