@Stephie No longer with them??? US Navy Reserve here. My original commitment was for eight years, of which 5.5 needed to be on active duty. When I completed the 5.5 on active, I went into the reserves. The eight years actually did conclude 29 days ago, but I extended and will continue to serve in the reserves.
As for the ballroom ... I look forward to attending a Navy Ball there someday. ;)

@Stephie Diversification is the answer to financial security. Yes, I do get paid for my reserve service, but I also work for my family's business. And my financé has an accounting practice. Together we do okay. 🙂
@Stephie You will do well. Like me and our upsidedown friend, you have won the lat-long lottery and were born somewhere that almost guarantees you will do better than the global average. Add to that you are in university and obviously intelligent and, again, you will do just fine. I just happen to be a decade ahead of you. 🫂
