The remain vote did mention all those things, but were shouted down.

@Mindfulness Obviously. People just didn't want to know how bad things could get.
@SW-User I think a lot of people did know how bad things would get, unfortunately they were in the minority when it came to a referendum, which by the way, isn't a legally binding vote, it was basically an opinion poll.

@Mindfulness Yeah but the government treated it as legally binding, sadly, and then turned it into the hardest of hard Brexits, which nobody wanted.

@SW-User think it is, I blame Farage for all the trouble, think the Russians put him up to it !

@Barny52 Farage, yes, and Boris too (not sure about the Russians bit). Famously, Boris was supposed to have written a pro and anti-EU column for the Telegraph. I think if he had published the pro-EU column we would still be in. People listened to him back then.
BTW, no, UK is not rejoining the EU (it would mean adopting the Euro for one). But some sort of single market arrangement a la Switzerland, Norway, Liechtenstein whatever shouldn't be too difficult. It would just mean free movement of people. And the joke is, net migration is actually higher now than before Brexit (but mainly composed of non-EU migrants). I think people will accept it. After all, no one is howling about closing the borders...

@SW-User boris jumped in as a way of getting himself elected! Farage definitely planed and worked for yrs on getting us out , wonder where he is now . I was to young to vote in first referendum in 70s but remember it well and it was such a good idea, we were going to be like usa but united country’s, Farage deliberately stopped that happening
