Meanwhile in the UK..."we'll put a desk fan in every third bedroom with our private healthcare tax so you can be less clammy while you die by 2050" hooray for living in a backwards shithole run by contemptuous posh boys 😇

Sorry hahaha

Probably, given how so many auto makers are shifting towards electric cars

@eMortal don't count on it.
Or look at it this way:
1. No expensive powerplant to build.
2. No expensive drivetrain to build (Transmission, Driveshaft, Rear Axle).
3. No fuel tank or fuel distribution system.
All of which takes about 45% of the cost to build a vehicle.
But do understand this one Fact: They have been building Electric Motors for years. Many lift-trucks in warehouses and factories are powered by electric motors. So the technology is not 'NEW' by any means.
Now if it costs $50K today to build an Internal Combustion Engine Vehicle, then it should cost less than $30K to build an Electric Vehicle. But instead, they're pricing EV's from 30% to 100% over the cost of any ICE Vehicle.

@dakotaviper I think it’s numbers and of course profit. They don’t make enough EV to bring production costs down.

At the same time, Germany has started using coal again because they don’t have enough energy from “green.”
Elessar · 26-30, M
Yeah especially with gas consistently above €2.00/litre
@Elessar you dont think electricity will go up once demand and stress on the power grid go up?
Elessar · 26-30, M
@SooperSarah The fact is, the price of electricity can go down the more the grid transitions to renewables and other sources you as a country directly control.
The price of coal, gas and oil that we necessarily import, instead, will always be susceptible to the whims of the Putin of the situation.

It's the sale of new petrol and diesel cars from 2035 in the EU.Second hand cars with petrol and diesel engines will be in plentiful supply. Here in Britain only electric cars will be sold new from 2030.The criminals are stealing electric chargers from peoples homes already.
Tastyfrzz · 61-69, M
I doubt that will happen here in the states. Country is too big and people run cars till they drop. Even if they stopped making them in '35 the roads would be full of them long after I'm gone.
smiler2012 · 56-60
well that is right it is easy for the eu to make such a law. but if you rely on your own transport to get from a to b it has to be affordable and reliable mode of transport [emortal]
WintaTheAngle · 41-45, M
Likely. All the new houses near me are being built with charging points. It looks to be the way of things.
eMortal · M
Yep@WintaTheAngle
Mellowgirl · 31-35, F
Haha no!
Isn't there a battery issue and chip shortage for these cars!

@Mellowgirl chip shortage yes, but that can be fixed. There’s no battery shortage.
Mellowgirl · 31-35, F
@eMortal I dunno
Dshhh · M
electric vehicles are cheaper to make that gas powered
put profit rules all

RebelHeart · 36-40, F
I hope so because a tesla is hugely out of my budget right now! 🤣

Woah. It’s not tomorrow…but 2009 was only 13 years ago, too.
