Why would anyone apologize for being themself?

Because you been told as long as you can remember that you're garbage and now you believe it.

Varied reasons; lack of confidence, possible feelings of guilt, past trauma...

They might actually be a bad person/have bad qualities. Or someone made them feel like there was something wrong with their natural personality. I think lots of people fit into the second category.

Took me over a decade of living on my own before I stopped saying "I'm sorry...".

Because I can be a little mean and rude sometimes. But, that is me.

A sad cry for attention
