Maybe it wasn't that Medusa had snakes for hair so much as she just had snakes growing out of her head. That suggests that, although nominally humanoid, she was reptilian rather than mammalian, which suggests that she didn't have pubes at all.

Well then you'd expect to observe them coming out of her armpits too but we don't see that. The Greeks make no mention of it. It's a no from me.
