Nope. I don’t know shit about cars. You should see me when I’m calling to schedule service for mine and am trying to describe the problem. “Something’s wrong with the thing that’s right next to what I think is the engine…” 😂

@Mooed78 unfortunately i have to ask a neanderthal to help me as im as useless under a car as i am at walking upright haha
Mooed78 · F
@SW-User but you’re a man 👨
SW-User
@Mooed78 exactly thats why my knuckles scrape on the floor when i walk haha
Scribbles · 36-40, F
Who staged that photo? She's got the wrong tools!
WindTherapy · 56-60, M
@Scribbles No YouTube in my day. 🤣 I had these huge stacks of service books. Might be why I still prefer that method when it comes time to work on something I'm unfamiliar with. 🤷♂️
SW-User
@Scribbles not if Jeremy Clarkson is her mechanic
he uses a hammer on everything haha

trackboy · 22-25, M
@SW-User who is Jeremy Clarkson? 🥞
Virgo79 · 61-69, M
I do, but its just not fun anymore😥
atlantic59 · 61-69, M
@badminton that is so true. My mechanic friends prefer the older vehicles for that reason.

I often use hammers when working on cars.
WindTherapy · 56-60, M
I do 98% of all my own maintenance and repairs. So I've got a pretty good grasp of the make and models I have.
Lilymoon · F
@WindTherapy Nice... must save you money taking it to the mechanic!
WindTherapy · 56-60, M
@Lilymoon I've picked up some used cars where the owner gives some of the paperwork of repairs/maintenance that's been done. They'll have $4/500 brake jobs on there that I could easily do for under $100. So yeah, my wife doesn't complain when I go out and buy a shiny new tool. She knows in the end it will pay for itself and then some. :)
Lilymoon · F
@WindTherapy sweet!
Degbeme · 70-79, M
Not any more. I leave that for the younger ones, oh and know what they`re doing.
Degbeme · 70-79, M
@SW-User I suppose it is possible. I took mine in and let the garage change it out for me.
SW-User
@Degbeme I believe I did the same when I first bought mine. If I remember correctly, I was told you can get to it from underneath... I never looked yet. lol
Degbeme · 70-79, M
@SW-User I`m too old be crawling underneath vehicles now. 😂
LunarOrbit · 56-60, M
Good start when your clothes match your car. Wonder what the interior looks like! 😉
Lilymoon · F
@LunarOrbit Omg I thought the same thing. She's got it going on. 🤣
atlantic59 · 61-69, M
@LunarOrbit depends on where she's going, I guess
Spica · 31-35, F
Only time I went under a car was to pull a scared kitten out, lol
Northwest · M
Not really, but I have a full warranty, and roadservice assistance, 24/7.
sciguy18 · M
Very much so, but at my age it takes a while to get out from under there.
atlantic59 · 61-69, M
@sciguy18 hope the wife knows you are under there before she runs off to do an errand
sciguy18 · M
@atlantic59 No wife...
CdAshley · 51-55, M
I sure do but I’ve never done it dressed as a woman. Lol
Ontheroad · M
Obviously whoever staged and took the picture doesn't know their way under cars - a hammer? And the other tools... yeah, not up to snuff at all. On the other hand, the mechanic is being prim and proper.
I used to do all my maintenance and most repairs, but as I've gotten older I let the local shop do the grunt work.

only if it runs over me haha
atlantic59 · 61-69, M
@SW-User there have been a few attempts, I imagine
easterniowegin · 51-55, M
I do less under the hood now than when i was half my age...partly bc I don't have as much time, partly bc i have the money to pay it done, and partly bc it's not as easy to work on late model cars.
I know enough to not be taken advantage of, at the shop. Lol

Lilymoon · F
@easterniowegin yeah the newer cars are mostly computerized now so you kinda have to bring it in.

Older cars for sure.. I used to do everything except transmissions.
About 5 years ago I packed it all in, found a great mechanic, now I'm the only tool in my garage..

Virgo79 · 61-69, M
@Majorlatency i was gonna guess the switch.
Majorlatency · M
@Virgo79 Could well be, however its good to eliminate the lower cost more accessible items first..
Virgo79 · 61-69, M
@Majorlatency true that!
WindTherapy · 56-60, M
A fine set of legs on display. ;)
Fluffybull · F
No, my car has a full service at my garage every year and I've got full breakdown assistance. (Not that I've ever had to phone coz of a breakdown).
Lilymoon · F
@Fluffybull yeah gotta love full service
atlantic59 · 61-69, M
yeah, I didn't see it in operation but it had what was like a clutch pedal at it's base. I don't remember if it had other pedals.
BizSuitStacy · M
I did a lot of my own maintenance on the older cars I had. Not so much with the newer ones.
eyeno · M
It helps if you've patience, like computers and cars.
SW-User
No I have to take it to the shop if anything goes wrong
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
Only if one runs me over. Thanks why the gods created mechanics.
Jeephikelove · 46-50, F
Yes, well most of it anyway.
Lilymoon · F

That's weird. I thought women only get stuck in washing machines 🤔
atlantic59 · 61-69, M
@rayoflight have you ever seen the old gas powered washing machines? We had an old model on display at a resort that also had antiques
rayoflight · 46-50, M
@atlantic59 can't say that I have. I know there are gas powered dryers though. Nice to know! 👍
SW-User
Under the hood, I do well enough! lol
Under the car, I know where things are, but don't really DO much of anything.
I know how to change a tire and where the muffler is, etc... but nothing major.
I use to change out batteries without a problem, but like another user, my battery on my vehicle is behind a front tire. I could probably change it if I tried though.
