I Love Learning But Hate School

I have always enjoyed learning, but school wasn't the best place for me to learn. For one thing, I was bullied and teased all through school, and so that didn't help any. I did graduate, but I didn't do as well as I could've though my GPA placed me in the top half of my class. And I know if it hadn't been for being in the band, I would've ditched more often and not done so much homework.

Even today I find it difficult to concentrate in class, and so what I need to know, I teach myself. It's a good thing I'm a voracious reader!!

I know, it *****. Been there, done that, not interested in going back. But now, I look back, and it's been 15 years since I received my diploma. I remember thinking that graduation couldn't come fast enough, and every day was a little piece of ****. And then I realize I've been out of school three more years than I attended for. :-D :-D just try not to ditch too often, k? I made it, and I know you can and will as well. *hug*!

Wonka, do take care of your studies, but I think your mom has a bit of a point...maybe not the partying, but you should make sure you take time to do SOMETHING you like, just for the sheer pleasure you get from whatever you choose.
I don't think it's wrong to party in college, heaven knows I've been to my share of parties, but it should only be a small part of your life, not what it revolves around. That's where so many get messed up...instead of a once a month thing, they're partying every night, not studying, and not coming to class, or coming to class still drunk, high, or hungover, which makes for an unpleasant environment for the other, more focused students.
And hon, you seem very intelligent to me. No matter what your dad may say or imply, you're not stupid.

For the most part it's my mom, my dad just does it to be mean, he doesn't actually care what my grades are. The weird thing is, I told my mom I don't want to party or anything in college and focus more on my academics. Her immediate response was "No, it's college, you should go to parties, have some fun with guys as long as you're careful, dance, you only go once! You can't just sit in a dorm room and read all night". I explained I don't plan to do that, I just have no interest in partying but would gladly take part in other activities. She thinks I'm a killjoy.

I love, love, LOVE learning, but I'm not a big fan of school. The only reason for this is the quizzes, tests, and homework. They all make me freak out and worry about my grades, and they're incredibly stressful. I had 4 A averages this year and 2 B averages, but my mom put so much pressure on me making A's and was disappointed when I made B's, so I just felt guilty at the end of all my hard work.

I have 2 :( 2 more stressful years of being pressured into making straight A's and being seen as the less smart child if I don't...and if I don't cut my parents off by then college is gonna be worse.
