I went nursing straight after school!
I found it too much...
At 19 I left Ireland and travelled to the east coast of the states.. stayed 2 years...
I then went to college in Switzerland at 24.
I studied geography..
I learnt more about traveling and being alone than being at college to be honest!
Indy74 · 46-50, F
Yes, I did go to college. I have an associates degree in criminal justice.
@Indy74 Awesome! I have a Masters in Social Work.

@SW-User Hopefully it's a pirate college 😃
Yep, I dropped out after switching majors 7 times. Idk if I'll ever go back just 'cause of how disgusted with the system I am. Plus the debt I'm now stuck with.

My girls were the first in my immediate family to go to college
I was only able to complete the 9th grade
Back then you could get decent jobs without a diploma
Every kid that has grown up in my home have diploma's (I have raised 10 kids and I only have 4 )
Several of them went to college ,,I took them to college to and fro
when they graduated ,I got them a car

Had only anyone had ever helped me like that

I supported them while they were in school ,the only thing they had to pay was to make good grades
Until I quit I worked a full time job and went to school
and I had to walk to both ,I was to young to drive

Going to college was the worst decision I made in high school
@MrAboo I'm sorry to hear that. It's not for everyone.
MrAboo · 36-40, M
@latinbutterfly no it’s not. I hope to never go back
shuhak · M
Yes (2 degrees). I am the only one of my family to go to college.
rckt148 · 61-69, M
@shuhak My Girls were the first ,now others have followed their steps
It only opened the door for them ,they wanted to be nurses like their grandma and be there when I needed them trained to help with me
They are all good at what they do ,the last ray of sunshine some people ever see ,,I know they will be good with me if I ever end up totally bed riden
The are so sweet and kind to all the people they take care of
Its always something to be proud of when you're child is the first to show it can be done

Yes, and hated every moment of it.. With the exception of my Psych, Writing, and Philosophy/Sociology classes.. I believe that was where I began to learn more about myself than initially anticipated.

I was the first in my family. My parents both left school when they were 14. I probably should have picked a different course but still it really helped with getting work.
Moon3624 · 18-21, F

iamnikki · 31-35, F

Spokeskitties75 · 46-50, M

But I never actually went in the buildings
MellyMel22 · F
[c=#BF0080]Yep, I have student loans to prove it 😑[/c]
MellyMel22 · F
@iamnikki [c=#BF0080]Yeah, it stinks! My last semester the head of the dept asked why I wasn’t told I was eligible for scholarships and asked why I thought I was taking 5 courses and I told her my advisor said she was doing me a favor since they made a mistake accepting one of my courses from the other school. She argued w/me and told me if I wanted to still graduate that semester I had to do what she said. The dept head looked at me with her eyes wide open and said she said what?! She needs my approval for anything like that! And that course IS approved as a transfer credit, what was she talking about?!
That witch made me buy books and waste time reading and writing papers knowing I was a mom driving almost an hour there and back every day I was there. I knew she didn’t like me from the day I met her.

Now I’m stuck w/loans that I shouldn’t have had needed 😒 I graduated w/honors too, I would’ve had no prob keeping those scholarships. [/c]
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@MellyMel22 that's horrible. See if you can work somewhere and have your loans paid for..
MellyMel22 · F
@iamnikki [c=#7700B2]I haven’t seen anything that’ll do it. I think it’s certain majors, but I could be wrong. [/c]

I chose to start work at 15 years old. I have never regretted it.🙂
HannahSky · F
I did and I was the only one out of the kids. Happy I did.
REMsleep · 41-45, F
I went because it was expected and I could see no way to earn a decent living without going at that time. It has pro and cons but I'm glad I went.
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@REMsleep same. it was drilled into my head, by teachers. They didn't give other options besides military.
