So the doctor says I'm not eating enough

So basically he's saying my stomach is empty and has nothing to digest and it's making my ulcer worse.

So he put me on sucralfate 3 times a day along with the Omeprazole in the morning and famotidine at night

But the big thing is I have to eat more. Easier said than done. Joel said he's not leaving for work until I eat breakfast and is going to text me or call me during lunch to make sure I at least drink a protein shake.
My daughter said she's going to text me as well.

I really feel stupid. I mean I just need to eat but I don't. I feel hungry but I ignore it and forget about it.

Joel said if that doesn't work he's getting the boys phones so they can start texting me as well

Ugh this is so frustrating

It's not stupid, it's a symptom. I know for a fact that it's present in autism, and probably ADHD as well as other conditions where transitioning from one task to another is difficult to do.

You're not alone with this, I developed an eating disorder that I've been struggling to recover from for at least 7 years now... the only difference is that I no longer feel hungry very often. I feel full, but not hungry.

Be careful with having too many people prompting you to eat at once because that can soon become annoying and irritating - even if you know that it's for your own good... so just be prepared to tweak that approach if you feel like you need to.
@HootyTheNightOwl my biggest issue is my parents used food as a punishment when ever I had tics or outbursts growing up. That's hard to undo. Every time I have one I think I can't eat because I had one. Sitting down at a table is still a struggle for me.
@Cigarguy101 I understand where your eating disorder originates from... I'm just advising you to be prepared for the possibility that several people checking in to make sure you eat might go the opposite way to how you want it to.

They say that some people who have issues with food insecurity often hoard food like human hamsters... but I found that having "too much" food around myself tends to make me not want to eat, too - so I've had to try and find the middle ground, where I have food, but not so much food that I don't want to eat.

Canned or frozen foods don't affect me in that way, though, it's only time sensitive food like sandwich filler.
@HootyTheNightOwl yeah I get what you are saying. And trust me he would never really give our boys cellphones because they would not only text me but him as well lol

But having him text me around lunch time I think will be good.

I wish my daughter wasn't with us at the appointment. I don't like that she is worried about me. She is going though a lot right now and this shouldn't be something on her mind.

We are actually looking into finding me a therapist that specializes in eating disorders. We also go to a support group for eating disorder as well. I have not shared there yet because I don't think I'm ready but going helps me. Knowing I'm not alone in this helps

I hope you are doing ok with your struggles.
@Cigarguy101 Lol, he'd just love that at work then "Dad, I just gotta tell you this thing that can't wait until you get home..." 🤣🤣🤣

Yes, one reminder can be good - and maybe keeping a food diary of what you consume might help you to track your average calories over the course of the day, too... especially if you're looking to get up to 2.500kcal recommended for an adult man. If you wanted to, you could also use that to reassure your daughter that you're trying and that Joel and yourself have it in progress.

I actually tried to seek a nutritionist to help me with my eating disorder because we know that I definitely have a B12 deficiency - so, who knows what else I could be hiding in terms of deficiencies.

My problem is that I don't get hungry - though, I do feel the fullness cues as I eat... a little sooner than I probably should at times, so I'm concerned that my stomach might need further expansion, or I need to learn about proper portion sizes again, I'm not sure which???

I can't get help because I'm overweight - therefore "I can't have an eating disorder". Yes, the doctor actually scoffed when I asked and told me to cut down on snacks that I wasn't eating... so I'm having to get through it as best as I can by myself at the same time as trying to understand how my other known conditions will interplay with my eating disorder.
@HootyTheNightOwl oh Lord that would be our youngest too. I may not allow him to have a fun until he's 16 lol

I'm so sorry your doctor did that to you. That is horrible. I went though a similar thing trying to get help with tourette's. The doctor I went to told me I was to old and he couldn't help me. He said find a way to live with it or go on disability. I don't get how someone who is supposed to help you can be so cruel.

I think right now we're just focusing on getting me to eat more than one small thing a day. One step at a time.
