Why is it that people lower their dating standards as they get old?

all i asked is that they be relatively sane and be able to make good spaghetti sauce. LOL

Depends how you see it, the only cases I can think of someone truly lowering their standards is to not feel lonely.
They want more a friend than a lover. Sex isn't as important anymore for lots of people, just more solid feelings and commitment than fickle desires, so I wouldn't say that means lowering your standards nessesarily maybe just looks related but looks aren't that lasting so its understandable to not care much about that after a certain age.

Usually people that have a great career or financial situation have higher standards as they age because seek for a partner that is good enough for them.

So depends how you see it.

I don't think its lowering your standards but finally growing up and realizing there's more to a person than good looks.

The number of available options diminishes with age, so it's either take what's available or go for the pay-to-win route...

My standards never changed. My ability to love though changed a lot.

What do u mean? Physically? If so then it’s because we maybe find other things attracting to in a being, like the mind, maturity, experiences and so on.
