What is with most guys looking like shit on dating profiles?

It is better than coming home to find the dude trying out your church dress , along with your graduation party heels .

And grandma's wig.

And then you just kinda silently walk out the room pretending you didn't see what you just saw.

Because a divorce is not manageable and you don't want to have to fight for seven months in court over who will have the dog.

So you just go to the kitchen and binge eat till your butt has developped its own butt.

When they show what they really look like, women criticize them for not looking good (as if dating sites would be filled with really good looking guys).....yet they don’t want men who dress too fancy, as it seems to be a facade (which, in many cases, it is).
They don’t want a critique, they want someone who’ll accept them for who they are.
If that’s not you, maybe dating sites aren’t for you either.
It’s rare to find incredibly good looking people on dating sites because there are usually people with enough confidence to ask them out in person.
Dating sites are full of those who are average looking at best, but feel that they still have something to offer.
I had/have massive facial hair, worked for over 30 years as an attorney and a number of people like me.

Well, I like everything you just described. The lumberjack esthetics, the facial hair, the serious face. Most women find men more attractive when they don't smile-they seem more stable.

It's their usual look. No pretenses.

One of my best friend’s husband had a long scruffy beard and wore clothes like one would wear in a junk yard all the time and most of the time was barefoot. I cringed every time I saw him. Just had a nasty look… but he had the most beautiful eyes…

Why would he dress up as something that he's clearly not just for a dating app picture???

Honestly... I'd much rather see him dressed in his average day to day clothes that he feels comfortable in than a dress suit that he might only wear four times in his life. Now, that doesn't mean to say that I don't appreciate a guy in a suit - but his comfort is more important to me.

I think studies have shown that the top 5% of people (appearance-wise) get over 90% of the responses on dating sites.

With those odds, trying to improve my standing from 6th percentile to 14th isn't worth much effort. I'd rather just disappoint people right off the hop.

Of course, I'm not looking anyway, but still...

There is a saying where if you can't handle them at their worst, then you don't deserve their best. Guys like to give a terrible photo just to see If woman are interested in his personality other than looks.

I know what you mean when I used to have a dating profile the men that take interest in me look to' up from the floor up and dusty. I know people say appearances aren't everything but sometimes they are. I don't like homeless looking men.

Men are not on average attracted to men so how would we know?
