Children of divorced parents: do you wish your mother went back to her maiden name?

Just a thought. My mother has become hard to get along with and the best thing to do is avoid her. I can't help but feel that it's awkward that she took my father's name. It's like I see a lot of the things he warned me about and I wish I listened to and somehow I'm joined to her by name. I can't afford to change my name right now and I feel a strong connection to my ancestors preceding my grandfather so in some ways I want to keep it. There is nothing I can do but I'm curious how people feel about this.

She did revert to her maiden name. She wanted NOTHING further to do with the man who got her children taken away, tried to do a murder suicide on her when served with the divorce papers, AND fled to Taiwan to evade grand jury indictment related to the above where he continued to drag the divorce out for 3 years!!! By the time she got the divorce decree allowing her to successfully dispute termination of parental rights petition they'd been married for 17 years. She wanted no reminders of those nearly two decades wasted with him.

Just looking at our names with his surname on paperwork and Medicaid cards is enough to get her angry and bitter.

Oh I couldn't care less either way.
