Me and other tribal members are doing our own pow-wow this year! [I Love Native American Culture, and Pow Wows]

Our tribe’s annual pow-wow has been canceled again due to COVID-19. Fair enough, but at the same time, some of us are refusing to go another year where we don’t gather together to honor our culture and traditions, so we’re going to be renting a plot of land on our reservation to have our own unofficial pow-wow. I’m very excited for it! Especially since this will be a true pow-wow by tribal members, for tribal members. Not like the annual tourist attraction our pow-wows have become over the years. Of course, all will be welcome to join and there will still be vendors and concession stands as always, but there won’t be any contests or sponsorships or all those other silly things made to draw in tourists and income. Just a few days where we remember and honor who we are as a people. I can hardly wait! ✊🏽🪶
