Right wingers now block frequently when asked for actual evidence of the Big Lie (that Trump won the election), because evidence does not exist and they cannot provide any. So I would say yes, they believe in cancelling others that do not believe as they do. It has happened all along on SW, but may seem like more now due to the huge influx of Trump Cultists from Yahoo a few months ago.
TexChikF
Stop being a narcissist and an a -hole and people won鈥檛 block you. But to assume conservatives approve of disgusting liberal ideology simply because a few people won鈥檛 put up with your bullshit is a bit rich , even for a lib.
I do that already but thanks.
This::
So if I criticise people and have a different ideology
Criticizing a different Ideology is playing the ball..

Criticizing people is playing the man..

Focus on the ideology, critique the ideology.. Don't seek to attack the individual..
TexChikF
@Burnley123 no Twitter was free to censor the president , just as Others were free to dole out the consequences . In this case it cost Twitter a billion in lost revenue . And I deleted my account there as well .
Burnley12341-45, M
@Adstar I don't attack individuals and I don't personalise things. At the top of this very thread, Texchick has done that to me. I'm not offended, just pointing that out.
assemblingaknob26-30, F
Literally left, right and center, people are all the same.
Burnley12341-45, M
@assemblingaknob No necessarily. But I try to keep my conduct consistent with principles. Though I am taking myself a bit too seriously lol. Do you think that the left have the same characteristics? How so?
assemblingaknob26-30, F
@Burnley123 I don't think anyone in the world can be 100% consistent with what they say or think they believe in. Humans contradict themselves all the time. Generalizing people based on anecdotal evidence is a foolish thing to do.
That's all I have to say about this.
Burnley12341-45, M
@assemblingaknob OK. Fair enough.
SW-User
The blocking feature on any site is used in different ways, depending on the individuals. Some refuse to ever block another while others block anyone and everyone.
As for bias... let us "fact check" that and get back to you.
Okay... that's it. I believe many have bias and prefer to see others as fools and idiots...especially if they can't prove something...even if it may be true.
If you hang on topics that are sure to cause issues, you get a lot of upset and even blocking.
Adstar56-60, M
You have not been canceled because you could post your post..

Blocking cancels no one..

Being canceled means you are no longer allowed to post on this platform..
Burnley12341-45, M
@Adstar UK. Our print media is like Fox News are the BBC is very pro government.
Adstar56-60, M
@Burnley123 UK ??? with the BBC British Backing Communisim broadcasting commission.. You are saying the UK media is right wing??? 馃ぃ 馃ぃ 馃ぃ

Sorry man you have lost all credibility with me.. The UK is so politically correct and filled with university indoctrinated cultural Marxist journo's it is beyond a joke..
Burnley12341-45, M
@Adstar OK, thanks for letting me know. 馃ぃ

I've lost all credibility because I don't understand cultural marxism. My bad.
Just no. Not every who comes here wants a debate or an argument.

I once listed how well looked after I was in hospital. This got politically hijacked and taken so far off track that I had to delete the whole post.

And therefore people can block whoever they want to for whatever reason they choose.
Burnley12341-45, M
@SirenCalledLuce That is a fair enough reason for deleting a post. I'm talking about people who actually make political points and then block for disagreeing.
@Burnley123 the problem is people make every aspect of your life political and then tell you what you should and shouldn鈥檛 care about. Fuck that noise
Burnley12341-45, M
@SirenCalledLuce Again, you are not wrong but it's not really what my post is about.
Jessichaos26-30, F
I don't usually like the "both sides do it" but yes, both sides do it in this case.

But either side justifies why they do it so it's OK for them but not the other. They even may call it different things.

The end result is the same. And it happens because people play the politics game to score points/wins for "their team". This is the end result of a two party system in which it is "us" vs "them" and everything about "them" is wrong.
I can't speak for other places, in my region there is high support for the right, and tumble weed signs of for support for the left. No one I talk to agrees with 16 yr Olds voting or voting w/o I.D., or support unemployment benefits, or open boarders, etc. Windham N.H. was the first to do a forensic investigation and found discrepancy in the tally compared to the result. 馃

To be totally honest, all parts of the political spectrum engage in cancel culture. They just don't like to admit it.

Conservatives cancelled Nike and Coca-Cola.
Burnley12341-45, M
@basilfawlty89

For sure, this does happen on the left and you need some element of truth to construct any strawman. A lot is ridiculously exaggerated obviously and often key details are omitted. In addition, political criticism is often cynically conflated with being cancelled. (Bari Weiss anyone?)

If you Google cancel culture, every single post is about the left 'censoring' people. So much of the criticism and emphasis on this debate is in bad faith. That is my point.
NorthwestM
Yeah, they invented Cancel Culture. On SW, they pass around a list of accounts that must be blocked.

Their illustrious leader, Trump, rooted his entire campaign, and presidency, in cancel culture: do not watch CNN, do not watch NBC, do not read the NY Times, do not read the WaPo, and so forth and so on.
Graylight51-55, F
A group of Trump alumni have created a groups dedicated to unseating the 10 republicans who voted for impeachment. They're trying to cancel an entire election. They cancel anything they don't like without the spirit of negotiation or compromise.

The GOP can readily tell you what and who it's fighting against, but they offer no platform4 of actual governance. So yes, the political right believes in. embraces and practices cancel culture.
