What do you think of cancel culture?

Cancel culture refers to the popular practice of withdrawing support for (canceling) public figures and companies after they have done or said something considered objectionable or offensive. Cancel culture is generally discussed as being performed on social media in the form of group shaming.

I think it's silly tbh. It doesn't do much to public figures.

Popular among those who like to strut around feeling so virtuous because they have taken on the mantle of being offended at the slightest thing, and often on their assumed behalf of third-parties; but it's actually a sort of amateur fascism.

Their principle is, "you are perfectly free to express your views as long as they agree with mine!"

And "culture" - the "culture" I think of when people talk of "drugs culture", or "gun culture" and now this so-called "cancel culture" is not the culture as the word used to mean before it became twisted in those ways. It is not the culture of human achievement and creativity, but nearer that of the pathogen culture on an agar plate in a biology laboratory.
