Gas was $2.85 this morning

@MalteseFalconPunch Well lets see .. doing everything in his power to halt US oil exploration, pipelines, etc .. while helping Russia profit from theirs .. has hurt our petroleum industry and made us more dependent on foreign supply. Increased cost of fuel drives other prices up due to transport and heating costs.

Too many $$ handouts given and for too long. Over compensating people contributed to people not returning to work. Free money was spent, causing surges in demand when there were workforce shortages. The two served to drive up prices for both goods that are available and those in demand that are in short supply.

@anythingoes477 I know that premium costs more but that price is ridiculous. And the increase has been sharp, not a normal drift in market pricing. And, that’s an assumption that I’m a Virginia resident who has been here for decades.

@toddr13 There is no assumptions in what I said. The assumption is you think I meant "you" personally.......instead of "you the people" who voted for mis-managers in Virgina for YEARS. Voting choices that are now coming back to haunt all of you with personal prop tax increases...gas taxes out of this world..soaring real estate taxes.....and taxes on anything and everything else Virginia can find to tax to pay off what the state owes.

And if you look for fault on what 93 UNLEADED PREMIUM costs.......look at the SOY Lobby.
They are 100% responsible for making sure ANY gas that isn't ethanol added is as high priced per gallon as possible to drive it off of the market.

@GuyWithOpinions But it does go far. It goes from those pumps to the WORLD market.......because OPEC says so. And once there it don't matter how much of it you can see being pumped here......it's priced and sold back to us at world market crude prices.....set by OPEC....not us....and not by the prez.

@GuyWithOpinions It is....and it should be rectified. Venezuela was part of OPEC...until recession and inflation due to a poor government sunk the economy there. When it hit rock bottom Venezuela left OPEC. They are BTW one of the bigger crude oil producers in the world..yet their gasoline cost double what we were paying at the time...for them almost $8 a gallon. They kept every drop they produced and the gas at their pumps dropped to .11 cents a gallon.

We have bigger fish to fry with OPEC.....like kissing their asses so the Middle East isn't in a new war each month with Israel....so we...as in ALL PRESIDENTS and ADMINISTRATIONS play ball with OPEC in return for peace by paying whatever crude prices OPEC sets.

@AbbySvenz President Joe Biden is responsible for the price dip in gas he released some of the strategic oil reserves. These were depleted when Trump took office but he refilled them when the price was down around a dollar 15 a gallon. So in all honesty you could actually think Trump for the lower pricing gas for refilling the strategical reserves but now they are empty or will soon be empty again and there will be no cushioning to the price increases.

And the National Oil Reserves? Your second lie. When trump took office the national oil reserve was down 77 million barrels....out of a total capacity of 716 MILLION barrels.....hardly empty. Over the course of 4 years Trump refilled the 77 million barrels......because...shockingly....IT WAS HIS JOB TO DO THAT. And......it benefitted Big Oil for him to OK that refilling. Of that amount Biden took out 55 million barrels....now mostly refilled already.

So lie #3..."but now they are empty or will soon be empty again and there will be no cushioning to the price increases." 716 million barrel capacity......minus 55 million barrels equals "empty"????? Math is not your big suit, huh?

@dale74 Which was refilled virtually overnight. The U.S is the largest oil producer on earth. The 55 million barrels taken from the Reserves was a political move to appease Republicans...and had ZERO impact on oil and gas prices because it went immediately to the world market.....not ours. Production in the U.S. was increased to still sell to the world and replace the 55 million barrels. The only thing accomplished by taking it out of the reserves was to temporarily shut up the critics.........prove to them and us that their lies on FOX were baseless.........as usual...and in the end it did zip to lower gas prices. The reason gas is going down now is political pressure on the Saudi's to let go of their oil...to drop prices globally.
