Good for them, they understand that with good mitigation strategies this thing will be over in a year and we can limit the hit to the vulnerable population, we can limit the hit to our healthcare system, we can limit the hit to government debt which has to be paid for sooner or later. I laugh at all these people who say they are taking our freedoms away, it is like if the country gets in a war you might be drafted to the military to go fight for your country, isn't that taking your freedom away? Making you wear a mask on a temporary basis is a tiny imposition to get you to help your country fight a pandemic.

@DeluxedEdition Except that your thoughts are predicated on a conspiracy theory, it is not untested. It went through the full gambit of vaccine trials and established the necessary safety and effectiveness data. As for freedoms they are free to pursue another career where their unvaccinated status does not threaten the health of patients who are already vulnerable.

@Driver2 It is not about freedom it is about your obligation to your society. Society does not exist to make you happy, it gives us an environment in which we can flourish as a group. You have a personal obligation to do your part to maintain this society. Saying making you wear a mask during a pandemic over a novel virus is taking away your freedom is a bunch of horse hockey. It is you who do not want to do your part. Using your logic you could say nobody has to pay taxes because it infringes on your freedom. It just does not work like that.

What is truly sad is each of those measures can be shown to make things worse and not better. Everywhere masks are mandated the count goes up. Everywhere the vax is mandated the count goes up. It is almost like out public health professionals are working against our best interests. BTW if you don't believe me simply dig out the stats and compare. We are into the 4th wave and about the time the vaxes should be drastically cutting the case count the case count is now higher than ever.

@UnderLockDown @hippyjoe1955 they want to take out all of the healthcare workers who refuse to get the [i]clot shot[/i], which i would say is anywhere around 50%. Then hospitals and facilities everywhere will be so overcrowded patients will die like flies from medical mismanagement.

@DeluxedEdition Exactly. The over crowded ICUs in AB are the result of staffing cuts that began 6 years ago. In a population of 4.4 million people there are only 220 ICU beds? The entire public health care infrastructure needs to be cleaned from top to bottom. There is simply no way that the 'government' can be allowed to mismanage the healthcare system this way. BTW 'government' refers to the bureaucrats that run the place not the politicians that are their front men.

Here, in my country, they are following the same policy now (unvaccinated people won't be allowed to travel by planes and trains, go to cinemas and stadiums, and other stuff), and I haven't been vaccinated.

@Sidewinder Sucks to be you. I don't plan on getting the jab. I looked at the data and the method by which it is designed to work and decided against it. 'First Do No Harm' seemed like a good policy. I will stick with it.

@Sidewinder I caught your joke. I know they don't inject vaxes in your butt. I was simply explaining why the vax is a no go for me. Not to mention which it doesn't work. If it did they wouldn't be working on things like molnupiravir which is an oral antiviral treatment. I am not going to rush out to take it either since it has not been shown to be safe or effective although I heard that the manufacturer of it is applying for an EUA.
