I was responding to a post and this came out. I think it is what I would like to say to all the people who see me as some kind of monster.

I am passionate about what I believe, as I am sure you are, but I cannot afford to be emotionally invested to the extent that it would upset me that people disagree with me, or think ill of me because of what I believe. Understand. Disagreement spawns ad hominem because we are human, but at some point, you have to either accept that you are going to be insulted, or cease to voice your opinion. If the conversation reaches the point of endless zinger exchanges, then it is just time to end the conversation, or enjoy the distraction of zinger creativity.

Keep being you. Trying to rationalize with people here is useless. Nobody disagrees nicely and everybody just wants to be heard. Trying to explain yourself here is a time waster. Get out and enjoy the great weather there. 😉

@Keepitsimple Thank you. Have I told you lately that I think you're awesome? 🌹

I have a problem with the cursing at, and general abusiveness towards someone with a different viewpoint, that shows up from both sides of any issue on this site and others. I only respond to political or divisive posts occasionally now. We have enough terrible crap going on in the world that we all have do deal with. People should agree to disagree and attempt to find commonality in other things. Becoming angry and saying revolting things to others isn't going to change anyone's position. It just feeds the angry frustration occurring.

Personally, I've now limited my time here and refuse to take anyone's attacks to heart. I don't care what anyone thinks about me and when I log out, whatever occurs stays here. I have a life outside of here that I enjoy.

You make a good point.People often personalize disagreements to the point where the exchange becomes little more than a one-upsmanship contest for insults.
I agree with you. These verbal sparring matches can be so tiring.

@mondayschild2 Derisive sequipedalianism can be fun sometimes, but I hate it when the psychoanalyses starts! The fact that I am batshit crazy is just too personal.

My policy is that if a person starts becoming rude with me,Ill simply stop responding.

Yeah, don't argue at all, don't reevaluate your positions. Just preach to others and never engage or come to new insights. Confronting your believes might be a negative experience, and who wants negative experiences? Just stay on the same level for the rest of your life and feel good about yourself. Because ignorance is bliss.
Oberon1 · 61-69, M
@Kwek00 I think your zingers should be funnier and less psychobabbleistic. Everyone thinks they are fuggin Sigmund Freud or Carl Jung, but you are shooting for Hannibal Lecter! People like to laugh, man! Lighten up.

@Oberon1 You don't have to bring big names into the conversation. It's just a consequence of your attitude. You treat everything as just "an opinion", and everyon apperently has the right to hold these hollow things and everyone else just has to live with it. This absolves people from getting better in their reasoning, because everything is fair game and equal. This dumb idea looses all power the moment we are going to talk about what descisions have to be made and which "opinions" we are going to use to make these descisions. At that point, you elevate your opinion as the right one. But people shouldn't argue over that opinion, because that would generate a negative experience for you because it would mean you have to think about what you are actually saying.
I am passionate about what I believe, as I am sure you are, but I cannot afford to be emotionally invested to the extent that it would upset me that people disagree with me, or think ill of me because of what I believe.
Everyone has just an opinion, suddenly becomes authoritarian when it's your opinion. And you personally don't have the time to discuss what you hold to be true, because that would be an "emotional" investment, in other words... it could generate a negative emotional experience. So we all just have to accept them and move on with our lives so you can have your little safe space where you can conjur up these grand opinions that are equal to all other opinions (for the sake of sheltering them from scrutiny) untill descisions have to be made.
Dont even worry about it. I'm pretty sure everyone experiences people being very upset with their view points, the more so just means your less silent which is actually a good thing...unless you really were a monster lol 🤷‍♀️
Imagine if you will

It’s the name calling for me when you don’t agree with something that’s posted. The insults start flying from the other side.
