The villain called “The Magian” is hired by a crime boss to cast a magic spell to get rid of Superman. The spell cancels out his Superman identity, but leaves the Clark Kent personality. Only less timid and mild mannered. Lois falls for him, and they get married. She later figures out what happened, and brings him back as Superman.
